On May 14, 2020, Minnesota Chinese Association of Science and Technologies (MCAST) delivered the third donation of PPEs to Health Fairview’s Masonic Cancer Clinic at University of Minnesota. http://www.mncast.org/
Like many other organizations from Chinese Minnesotan communities, MCAST started to call on its members to donate and source the much needed personal protective equipments (PPEs) in March. With the donations, MCAST had delivered the first batch of 3000 surgical masks to United Hospital at St. Paul on April 10, and the second batch of 2000 surgical masks to the same hospital on April 17. United Hospital is one of the designated locations to treat COVID-19 patients. Donations from communities not only helped to alleviate the urgent shortage of PPEs at the beginning of the pandemic, but also carried the love and appreciation from the communities to our hero’s.
In this pandemic, Chinese Minnesotans have leveraged their connections from China and sourced and donated more than 100 thousand pieces of PPEs to hospitals, police stations, fire stations, and senior care centers around Minnesota.
As one of the members said on TV interview, “We are all in this together. We have to work together to win”. We strongly believe that the pandemic shall pass.
